Block structure of the tread pattern

One of the main features of the Metzeler MCE Karoo 2 model is the tread pattern. With the exception of sizes, it is practically identical for the front and rear tires. In both cases, it contains numerous high rectangular blocks distributed across the central part and shoulder areas.

In the central part, the blocks are arranged in pairs, allowing them to form very long transverse edges of contact, located relative to the direction of movement. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates very high traction and coupling properties in the longitudinal direction. At the same time, the transverse ribs are located at a significant distance from each other, which allows the tread to effectively get rid of even large solid objects and soil particles.

In turn, the design of the shoulder areas has significant differences, since during movement, this part of the tread provides contact with the road in a slightly different way. Here, too, there are long transverse edges formed from two blocks. However, they alternate with single blocks, which nevertheless provides the tire with excellent coupling properties even at significant motorcycle lean angles.

Multiradius profile

Among other features of the MCE Karoo 2, it is worth noting the tread with a variable curvature. Thanks to this solution, the German tire manufacturers were able to achieve stability of the contact patch size, regardless of the driving mode and road surface characteristics.
