13 august 2012
The management of the Japanese holding Yokohama announced that it plans to increase investments from 11.7 to 26 billion rubles in the special economic zone "Lipetsk". This will allow the production of automotive tires to be increased by one and a half times.
According to Oleg Kostin, the general director of JSC "Special Economic Zones", the Japanese company has already provided all the necessary documents for this. They were to be considered by the Expert Council under the Ministry of Economic Development by the end of July.
The approval of the amendments to increase investments in the initial business plan will mean the conclusion of an additional agreement and a new lease agreement for a land plot of five hectares, on which the plant will be expanded. So far, there is no exact information about the company's plans, but "Kommersant" reports that a new batch of equipment is planned to be delivered to the plant, which will be more modern compared to the one already in operation. It will allow expanding the range of automotive tires, which will include new engineering solutions.
Recall that initially, the company Yokohama planned to invest 11.7 billion rubles in the plant near Lipetsk. The new plant, the construction of which began two years ago, was supposed to provide a production volume of 3.5 million tires per year. Currently, the first stage of three has been launched, which produces 1.4 million tires. The enterprise occupies 24 hectares, of which 4.3 hectares are production areas. Most of the tires produced are supplied to the Russian market, and some are sold in European countries. According to the development project of the branch, it is planned to increase investments to 26 billion rubles and areas - by 5 hectares.
