New Winter Tires for Crossovers from Pirelli

26 august 2012
At the beginning of the winter season, car owners are expecting a pleasant surprise from Pirelli: the company has announced the release of new winter tires that will be designed for luxury crossovers with wheel diameters from sixteen inches. The new model has been named Pirelli Scorpion Winter.
According to the company's statement, the main positive characteristic of this model is its short braking distance on snowy roads, which allows for entering turns without significant loss of speed. Also, among the positive features of the tire are its low rolling resistance and high level of acoustic comfort.

The improved traction with the road surface is facilitated by the V-shaped tread pattern. It allows the tire to literally grip the surface and provides easy braking and acceleration. The tread blocks have a lamellae system.

The central zone of the tread contributes to good traction on snow, while the shoulder zone guarantees traction on dry surfaces.

The original composition of the rubber compound has silica as a component. Thanks to it, the traction characteristics on snow and wet roads have become even better. And the new molds used in the production of the tire optimized the contact area with the road, which improved the response to steering.

The Pirelli Scorpion Winter carcass has a low weight compared to tires of the same class. This improved dynamics and, again, reduced rolling resistance.

This tire has already been approved for factory equipment of such cars as Audi, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Volkswagen, and Land Rover.
