Шины на Jeep Wrangler (Джип)

Jeep Wrangler is a line of compact and mid-size SUVs. It has been in production since 1986, being a direct descendant of the four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the North American companies Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation from the 1940s to the 1980s.

YJ Model

The debut of the car under its current name took place in 1986. Despite the rectangular headlights, the SUV did not differ much from its predecessor, the CJ-7 model, matching it in wheelbase size and differing in ride comfort thanks to the updated suspension, lower center of gravity, and wider track. At the same time, leaf springs were still used, but they were complemented by wider springs and levers, as well as stabilizers of transverse stability. The exterior design was almost completely borrowed from the previous model, and some body parts were interchangeable. In the first years of mass production, the car was equipped with an inline four-cylinder AMC 150 engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, or a 6-cylinder AMC 258 engine with a volume of 4.2 liters, which was replaced by a power unit of the same design with a volume of 4 liters in 1991. The following year, the car's modernization continued with the expansion of the safety cage, which made it possible to install seat belts for the second row of seats. In addition, the cable speedometer was replaced with an electronic one. In 1993, the model began to be equipped with ABS, and a year later, modifications with a 4-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission appeared.

In the second generation of the SUV, presented in 1996, the round headlights were returned. This car was developed at Chrysler, which had recently acquired AMC along with the Jeep division. It was a modernized version of the previous model, differing from it primarily in the modern suspension with springs instead of leaf springs, which improved handling and smoothness of the ride. The engine range started with an inline four-cylinder engine with a volume of 2.5 liters and ended with the previously installed 6-cylinder AMC 242 engine with a volume of 4 liters, which was installed on the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. After 2002, the 4-cylinder power unit was replaced by a similar one, but with a smaller volume - 2.4 liters, from the Chrysler PT Cruiser passenger car. Another significant change that occurred in 2002 was the appearance of a 4-range "automatic", which replaced the previous 3-speed automatic transmission developed by Chrysler. In fact, the second generation became the last one where AMC parts and components, the previous owner of Jeep, were used.

In 2006, the manufacturer presented the next generation of the cult SUV. The fundamental difference was the use of a new platform, despite the same design with a frame and a body attached to it. It made it possible to expand the range of cars with modifications with a short and long wheelbase, easily distinguishable by the number of doors. In both versions, the car had a wheelbase half a meter longer than its predecessor, along with an increased width of 86 mm. Another important innovation was the appearance of a wide range of electronic systems that control the engine, transmission, and brakes. In the basic configuration, the car was equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine, which worked in conjunction with a 6-speed "mechanics" or "automatic", both of which were developed at Chrysler. In 2012, the power unit was replaced by a 6-cylinder Pentastar engine with a volume of 3.6 liters from the Grand Cherokee of the 2nd generation, which could be combined with a 5-range automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz. Outside the US, modifications with a turbocharged diesel engine with a volume of 2.8 liters from VM Motori and the same set of transmissions were offered. The "basic" versions of the SUV were equipped with a four-wheel drive system operating according to the "part-time" scheme with a self-locking Trac-Loc differential. In turn, the "charged" Rubicon version differed in the presence of locks on both axes.

JL Model

The fourth generation of the SUV debuted in the fall of 2017. In terms of design, the car retained the key stylistic features of its predecessor, except for the logo with the brand name on the radiator grille. The design also did not undergo significant changes - the frame and solid axles. But at the same time, the four-wheel drive system is offered in three options - Command-Trac, Selec-Trac, and Rock-Trac. The car has again slightly increased in size, becoming 64 mm longer and 89 mm higher. However, the weight has decreased by 90 kg due to the wider use of high-strength steel and aluminum. It is also worth noting the increased overhangs at the front and rear. The engine range varies greatly depending on the region. The "base" one is still the 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine, but its design has been significantly changed to reduce fuel consumption. In the standard configuration, it works in conjunction with a 6-speed "automatic" from Aisin or an 8-range one from the Grand Cherokee. This same power unit is part of a "hybrid" installation, along with a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor, developing 375 horsepower. Another variant of it is equipped with an inline diesel "four" with a turbocharger and a volume of 2 liters, which, like in the previous case, is used in the standard configuration of the SUV. In 2020, a diesel V6 engine with a volume of 3 liters from VM Motori with a power of 260 horsepower became available on the North American market. And outside the US, the car is offered with a diesel engine from Fiat with a volume of 2.2 liters and a power of 203 horsepower with a start-stop system. This cult SUV is popular all over the world.
