The Jeep JT pickup is better known as the Gladiator, which was present in the production line of the North American brand from 1962 to 1988. Technical Features

One of the fundamental differences is the modernized frame, which increased the wheelbase by almost half a meter - by 493 mm. This should be added to the rear overhang, which resulted in a total frame extension of 787 mm. This made it possible not only to equip the pickup with a full-fledged 4-door cabin but also with a 1.5-meter cargo platform. It is made of steel, except for the aluminum folding side. The increased dimensions worsened the geometric passability parameters. However, this was offset by a giant ground clearance of 282 mm. Another difference from the Wrangler is the suspension with reinforced springs and shock absorbers, which allowed increasing the pickup's payload to 726 kg. Here, it is also worth noting another feature - the increased slots in the radiator grille. This improves engine cooling, especially when towing a trailer. Its weight can reach 3.5 tons.

Until 2022, the engine range consisted exclusively of V6 engines. The "base" was a 3.6-liter gasoline engine with 289 horsepower, which could be combined with either a 6-speed "mechanics" or an 8-range "automatic". An alternative to it was a 3-liter diesel engine, producing 264 horsepower, which worked exclusively with an automatic transmission. Unlike the Wrangler, the pickup already uses the Command-Trac all-wheel-drive system in its standard equipment. This is a classic "part-time" with a front axle coupling clutch and a transfer case with a reduced gear ratio. The most off-road-ready version, Rubicon, is equipped with a Rock-Trac transmission, which features a shortened gear ratio in the "reducer", differential locks, and the ability to remotely disconnect the front stabilizer.

Interior

In terms of equipment, the car is a copy of the Wrangler, offering, among other things, a soft top or removable hard roof panels. In the latter case, a glass with a sliding section appears at the back. All doors can also be removed, and the windshield can be tilted onto the hood. The rear sofa is designed for transporting adult passengers, and behind its partially folding back, there are niches and compartments for small items. In the updated version, presented in the fall of 2023, a 12.3-inch display with the Uconnect 5 multimedia system appeared in the cabin, replacing the 5- and 7-inch screens. Inflatable curtains became part of the standard equipment. Another difference was the expansion of the trim options. The Rubicon X version appeared in the lineup, featuring a steel bumper, electric front seat drives, "nappa" leather upholstery, and a front camera. Depending on the trim level, the pickup is equipped with wheels with a diameter of 17 to 20 inches.
