Jeep Commander – one of the representatives of the classic "jeeps" that started production in 2005. The beginning of the story

The first generation, presented in 2005, was a modification of the "Grand Cherokee" model. This meant that the main components of the novelty "migrated" from the "donor". - Quadra-Trac I – the base version without a differential lock;
- Quadra-Trac II – differed by the presence of an interaxle differential and downshifts;
- Quadra-Drive II – three differentials – interaxle and interwheel, which are equipped with an electronic control unit.

The power units were complemented by numerous "assistants", as well as a premium audio system, heated seats, and more. At the initial stage, the model demonstrated a high level of sales, especially in the domestic market, but two years later their number sharply began to decrease. In this regard, the manufacturer was forced to complete the production of the "Commander", which happened in 2010.

Revival

In 2018, the company presented a revived model, which was now focused on the Chinese market. The car received the name "Jeep Grand Commander" and represented a completely new design, having nothing in common with the first generation. This was still a car with five and seven seats, with a transverse engine arrangement and front-wheel drive. An all-wheel drive was optionally installed. Under the hood, a 2-liter turbocharged engine with two boost options, 234 and 265 horsepower, was now working. The transmission was a 9-speed ZF. The equipment corresponded to the trends of the automotive industry – a touch screen, many driver assistance systems, a panoramic roof, electric drive of the front row seats, auto-start, dual-zone climate control, and more.

The third generation debuted in 2021. It was developed by the Brazilian division of "Stellantis" and was based on the FCA Small Wide platform. The novelty is executed in the corporate design style. Under the hood, a small turbocharged "gasoline" engine with 1.3 liters, capable of producing 185 horsepower in peak, as well as a 2-liter turbodiesel with 170 horsepower, are now working. The first is equipped with a 6-speed "automatic" and has only front-wheel drive, the second is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Among the equipment, there are many "assistants", a digital instrument panel, and a large touch screen for controlling the main functions.
