The Cadillac SRX was produced from 2003 to 2016. Initially, the car was classified as a mid-size SUV, but in its second generation, it significantly changed its concept, becoming a classic crossover.

First Generation

The car, presented in 2003, was built on the Sigma platform developed by General Motors, sharing it with the mid-size sedans CTS and CTC, but in a modified version. It was distinguished by the longitudinal arrangement of the power unit and the possibility of installing a four-wheel drive system, which was available as an additional option. Moreover, the default drive was rear-wheel drive, and the front wheels were connected automatically through a reducer integrated into the transmission. Initially, this was a 5-speed hydromechanical "automatic" working with a V6 engine with a volume of 3.6 liters, or with a V8 engine with a volume of 4.6 liters of the Northstar family, developing 255 and 320 hp, respectively. The "big" engine had a function to shut off half of the cylinders when driving smoothly and under low load.

Like other models of the brand, the car was positioned as a premium class model, having corresponding equipment. Already in the "base" version, there was a leather interior, "curtains" of safety on all doors, a sunroof, satellite navigation, and a third row of seats. The version with the V8 engine added decorative elements made of natural wood to this set.

Second Generation

In 2009, the second-generation model debuted. It differed significantly from its predecessor, both in terms of interior and exterior design, and in terms of technical specifications. The car became significantly more compact, and the body was brought in line with the current corporate style, becoming more aggressive due to the presence of a large number of sharp edges on the body panels and a sloping roofline with a massive spoiler on the trunk lid. In technical terms, it stood out for its use of the Epsilon II platform, which it shared with the Chevrolet Equinox, along with a significant number of components. In essence, this was the same crossover, but the Cadillac version was distinguished by the presence in the lineup of a version with a 3-liter V6 engine, which accounted for the majority of the produced units. In the "base" version, the crossover had front-wheel drive, which was due to the characteristics of the used platform. As an option, all-wheel drive with a viscous clutch on the rear axle was offered. Another important difference was the equipment. In particular, the crossover featured a multimedia system with active noise cancellation, separate monitors for second-row passengers. 18-inch wheels and tires were standard for this car, however, the manufacturer allowed the use of wheels with a diameter of up to 21 inches, which, among other products, can be found in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
