The release of the compact Buick Encore GX crossover took place in mid-2019. The car occupies an intermediate position between the "crossover" Encore and Envision, being developed in the Chinese division of GM.

In particular, the 8-inch display of the multimedia system is integrated into the front console. As is the case with a model that is one step higher, it also has an extended list of additional equipment, which includes natural leather trim, electric adjustment of the front seats, and a servo-driven rear door.

In technical terms, there were significantly fewer differences from the "standard". Under the hood is a non-alternative gasoline engine with a volume of 1.3 liters with a turbocharger, producing 165 horsepower. In the base versions with front-wheel drive, it is combined with a variator, and more expensive versions with all-wheel drive offer a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Updated version

In early 2023, the debut of the updated version of the crossover took place, which by that time had become a bestseller in the North American market. In fact, its specifics prevailed during the update. Visually, the car differs from its predecessor with a different design of the front part, where the debut of the new corporate style of the brand with a characteristic negative slope and massive sizes of the radiator grille took place. The list of equipment options includes the top-end Avenir version, which previously existed in larger and more expensive models of the brand. The key innovation in the cabin was the front panel of the Virtual Cockpit System, which is visually distinguished by the combined displays of the instrument cluster and multimedia system. The climate control unit with physical keys and handles was preserved. The top-end Avenir version adds to this set a natural leather trim with embossing. In technical terms, the car differs from its predecessor in the ability to choose from two engines. In addition to the previous 1.3-liter engine, a turbocharged power unit with a volume of 1.2 liters with an output of 139 horsepower and 220 Nm was added, designed for base versions, which still had front-wheel drive and a variator.
