The full-size Buick Enclave crossover has been in production since 2007. It is one of the debut models of the General Motors brand, the concept of which implies their use as classic passenger wagons, but with extended capabilities for transporting passengers, including on dirt roads.

First Generation

The car, presented in 2007, was created on the Lambda platform, sharing it and most of the mechanical components with the Chevrolet Traverse. In particular, it used a 3.6-liter gasoline engine with 275 horsepower, which worked in tandem with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The base versions were front-wheel drive, and the all-wheel drive system with a clutch on the rear axle was available as an option. In addition to the need for extra payment, this component excessively weighed down the car, the weight of which reached 2300 kg, which became the main reason for numerous complaints, which, nevertheless, did not prevent the excellent sales of this crossover. In the first months after their start, GM could not cope with its production, as a result of which the plant in Michigan had to introduce a third shift. In 2013, an updated version appeared. By that time, the car had been equipped with a modernized engine, which became more powerful, developing 288 horsepower, as well as more traction, reaching its maximum torque at lower revs. Therefore, most of the innovations affected the external appearance and equipment. The front of the crossover was revised, featuring a more massive radiator grille with a chrome coating, xenon headlights with LED running lights and rear lights. The cabin featured an updated dashboard with soft-touch plastic, natural wood trim, and a touch-sensitive display with the IntelliLink multimedia system. In addition, the car already offered 7 airbags as standard, one of which "fired" from the central part of the front console, along with a "blind" spot monitoring system.

Second Generation

In the spring of 2017, the second-generation crossover debuted. The car was not technically related to its predecessor, using the new C1XX platform at the time. It also differed significantly in appearance. The new platform significantly increased the dimensions of the crossover, which allowed passengers in the second row to have much more space, as well as space for their luggage. Even with the third-row seats folded down, up to 668 liters of cargo could fit behind their backs, not counting the space under the floor of the trunk with a capacity of almost 89 liters. Another advantage of the "cart" was a significant reduction in the weight of the crossover, the mass of which now did not exceed two tons. Hardly the only component taken from the predecessor was the engine. This was a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine, but it had undergone a modernization cycle, which increased its power to 309 horsepower. It worked in tandem with a 9-speed GM "automatic" and front-wheel drive in the initial versions. For an extra fee, as before, all-wheel drive from GKN was available, but with two, not one, clutches connecting the rear wheels.

The base versions of the car already offered quite extensive equipment. It included 7 airbags, including one central, opening between the front seats, an electric rear door drive, a keyless access system, automatic switching between low and high beam, as well as 3-zone climate control.

Third Generation

The next, third generation of the crossover was presented in the spring of 2024. The car again changed its design, which was brought into stylistic conformity with modern models of the brand with a characteristic "shark" front. The crossover still maintained a technical connection with the Chevrolet Traverse, which changed generations a year earlier. And again, the car increased in dimensions, becoming longer, wider, and higher, despite using the C1XX platform, albeit in a modified version. Hardly the only significant change in the technical part was the replacement of the previous 3.6-liter "atmospheric" engine with a modern turbocharged "four" with a volume of 2.5 liters, which produced 333 horsepower and 442 Nm of torque. The transmission was also replaced with an 8-speed one. The all-wheel drive system, as before, is available for an extra fee, but its capabilities have increased, allowing the car in this configuration to tow a trailer with a mass of up to 2270 kg. Another "brand" feature of the model was also preserved. This is about the equipment, in the base version of which there is a 12-channel Bose acoustics, adaptive cruise control with a lane-keeping function, natural leather upholstery of seats and door cards.
