The VAZ 2107 is a compact passenger car. It was produced from 1982 to 2012. It was the successor to the 2103 model, but was based on the "five", the VAZ 2105, becoming its "luxury" version, the flagship of the model range and one of the cars exported by the Russian manufacturer.

History of creation

The design work on this car began in the first half of the 1970s as part of the development of second-generation models, the predecessors of which were created on the basis of the Fiat 124. The VAZ 2105 was planned as a standard sedan, and the future "seven" as its variant with extended equipment. The first prototypes were built in 1978, after which road tests began, interrupted by the elimination of deficiencies. By March 1982, the finishing work was completed and serial production of this model began. It continued until 2006, when the manufacturer underwent a rebranding of its model range, as a result of which the car became known as the Lada 2107.

Main features

Despite belonging to the second generation, the car was structurally and conceptually close to its "ancestor" - the Fiat 124 of 1966. This is a compact sedan of a classic layout for those years with a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. Nevertheless, the manufacturer managed to make it sufficiently different from the 2105 model. First of all, in appearance. The sedan can be easily distinguished by the radiator grille, which is a more massive part with a chrome coating. For the same reason, the hood has a characteristic protrusion, which is only for the "seven". In addition, the rear lights have been partially changed, where the "turn signals" and reversing lights are located on the lower tier. The salon has other front seats with an integrated headrest, which were the "exclusive" of this model until the beginning of the 2000s. In its turn, the instrument panel received a tachometer, and the speedometer expanded the digit - up to 180 km/h. In technical terms, there were much fewer differences. The key among them was the modernized engine from the predecessor with the index 2103 with the same volume of 1.5 liters, but with an increased power of 77 hp. The first years of production it had a carburetor fuel system, and later received more modern variants, including distributed injection. An extremely small number of instances were equipped with a rotary-piston engine with a volume of 1.3 liters and a power of 140 horsepower. This version was initially created for the needs of law enforcement agencies, but with the beginning of the 1990s, it was available for sale for some time. Currently, this model, along with the "five", is quite common on our roads, from time to time requiring replacement of tires and wheel disks.
