Tires on Rover (Ровер)

The emergence of the famous car brand from England dates back to 1883. At that time, the company mastered the production of bicycles. Moreover, it was the one that proposed the classic variant for today's time with equal front and rear wheels. Before that, the bicycle design featured a large front wheel and a very small rear wheel.

Historical Background

The first "car" was a tricycle. A relatively full-fledged car, released from the assembly line, was the Rover 8, which the company introduced in 1901. Further development of production was associated with the development of motorcycles, light trucks, and passenger cars. At the same time, the production of bicycles was also listed as one of the areas of activity.

During World War II, like most car companies, Rover worked on the creation of aircraft engines, as well as frames for aircraft. Notably, having developed its own aircraft engine, the company transferred its production to Rolls-Royce. In turn, the latter provided it with an order for the production of tank engines (which continued until 1964).

In the 1950s, the development of a gas turbine engine was underway, and even a working prototype was created, which was able to reach a speed of 140 km/h. Diesel, gasoline, and kerosene served as fuel for it. Despite such an advantage, it had an enormous consumption, which the engineers were unable to reduce. As a result, the model did not go into mass production. However, the accumulated experience contributed to the creation of a racing car, which showed a maximum speed of 229 km/h in the 24-hour Le Mans race.

The next two decades can be called the "golden" period, in which the Land Rover model took the lead. And in the 1970s, the Range Rover appeared after it. This car combined the comfort of a classic sedan, but at the same time allowed movement on rough terrain. Equipped with a V8 engine, it had disc brakes, four-wheel drive, reinforced suspension, and a number of other innovations.

Change of Owner

Starting from 1995, the company became the property of BMW. During this period, a whole array of models appeared, including the famous Rover 75. Under German leadership, the manufacturer was until 2000. Then it was sold to Phoenix Venture Holdings, which five years later announced its bankruptcy. As a result, the new owner became the Chinese company Nanjing Automobile. The latter became the owner of the production facilities, equipment, and the MG brand. At the same time, another Chinese concern, SAIC, received the rights to the intellectual property of the former automaker - the rights to models 25 and 75. At the same time, the Rover name remained the property of BMW. Therefore, the Chinese created a new brand called Roewe, under which the production of updated models began.

In the Russian region, various models from the English manufacturer are not a rarity. Therefore, for all owners of such cars, we offer to familiarize themselves with the huge assortment of tires and wheels in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
