Tires on Rover 800 (Ровер)

The Rover 800 was a line of medium-sized passenger cars available in various body styles, which were produced from 1988 to 1999. The model was the result of a joint development between the Austin Rover Group and Honda.

First Generation

The car was developed simultaneously in two research centers - in England and Japan. According to the agreement between Austin Rover Group and Honda, a fairly extensive unification with the mid-size Honda Legend sedan was assumed, with which the 800 series shared a platform, however, the body design of both models was authentic, and the British version had two trim levels - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door fastback. The Japanese partner provided access to a 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, chassis, automatic and manual transmissions. From Austin Rover Group, the car received a 4-cylinder 2-liter engine and a significant part of the electrical systems.

Second Generation

In 1991, the car underwent a significant modernization, which was largely a response to numerous critical reviews of this model. First of all, the body design changed, which lost its former angularity, acquiring modern "aerodynamic" shapes. In addition, a "signature" radiator grille for the British brand appeared. These and other innovations in the exterior allowed the 800 series to become the best-selling medium-sized model in England, surpassing the BMW "five" and Opel Omega, bestsellers of the European market. In technical terms, hardly anything else changed except for the appearance under the hood of a modified 2-liter engine, which became available, including in a version with a turbocharger. A coupe body modification appeared in the lineup. Initially, it was developed for the North American market, but by the time of its launch, the British brand had left it, and the car became available in other countries with right-hand drive. It differed from the sedan with an engine - exclusively a 2.7-liter V6 from Honda, as well as equipment, the top one for the standard model, which, in addition to climate control, a 6-disk CD changer, included 16-inch alloy wheels. Such products are also presented in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
