The compact crossover Haval Red Rabbit appeared in 2021, becoming the second model of the brand, where the name in honor of an animal was used. In the production range, it replaced the F5, but technically, it was one of the variants of the Chulian, differing from it mainly by a more extensive list of standard and additional equipment.

Characteristics

The car is built on the same modular L.E.M.O.N. platform as the Chulian, having an identical wheelbase of 2700 mm. The exterior is designed in a more aggressive style due to the design of the front part with a massive radiator grille, plastic trim made of uncolored plastic around the perimeter, and an enlarged spoiler on the rear door. Additionally, the shape of the rear windows and the headlights, combined with an LED strip, differ.

In turn, the salon stands out with a front console with a central part turned towards the driver, above which a wide-format display of the multimedia system with a diagonal of 12.3 inches "floats". In addition to it, the standard equipment includes a "digital" instrument panel and a 2-zone "climate". Additional options add to this list electric adjustments of the front seats, panoramic glazing of the roof, an automatic parking system, as well as a camera that tracks the driver's fatigue, which is located at the base of the left windshield pillar.

Initially, the engine range was represented by one engine - an in-line turbocharged "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters, available in two variants. In the base versions, it developed 150 hp and 220 Nm, and in the more expensive ones - 184 hp and 275 Nm. In both cases, the power unit worked in "pair" with a 7-speed robotic gearbox with two "wet" clutches. And regardless of the version, the crossover was only available with front-wheel drive. Later, two hybrid installations were added to the line. The simplest of them was a combination of a 102-hp gasoline "atmospheric" engine with a volume of 1.5 liters and an electric motor with a power of 136 hp and 250 Nm, powered by a compact battery with a capacity of 1.8 kW/h, located in the trunk floor. In total, such a "hybrid" produced up to 190 hp, without the possibility of recharging from an external source. More expensive versions could be equipped with a more "advanced" power unit. It also used an "atmospheric" engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, but in combination with a 154-hp electric motor. Moreover, the system could operate in both parallel and sequential modes. At low speeds, the ICE is used as a generator, and the wheel rotation is carried out exclusively by the electric part. At high speed, the gasoline engine is connected to this process, using a 2-speed reduction gear with a robotic switching mechanism for this purpose.
