Tyre reviews Nexen Winguard Sport 2 SUV. Page 2 106

I purchased these tires in 2022 for my Grand Starex, and this year I bought them for my father's "Kashkai". The tires have proven themselves to be exceptionally good: quiet, handle the road perfectly, and confidently drive in the snow. Yes, on bare ice, you need to use your head, but that's not what "studded tires" are for. An excellent option for those who spend most of their time in the city or on the highway.

I bought these tires last year (2022) and drove them through one winter. The tires performed excellent - very quiet, dry asphalt is a 5, snow and deep snow is a 5 (with four-wheel drive, it grips no worse than A/T), clean ice is a 3 - you need to use your head here (accelerate smoothly, brake in advance). But it's sticky, and I haven't seen any sticky tires that behave on ice like they do on asphalt.
In general, I'm 100% satisfied with the tires - I recommend them (my father has already taken the same ones). I really hope they won't wear out too quickly.

I purchased winter non-studded tires (friction tires) from the Korean manufacturer Nexen at the MosaVtoshina store. When choosing, I looked at reviews - the reviews were good about the tires. When I picked up the tires from the warehouse at the store in Moscow, I noticed that the tires were stored horizontally in stacks of 10-12 pieces on top of each other (they should be stored vertically), and there were small dents and depressions on the tires. The seller assured me that the tires were stored in this way for no more than 2 days in the warehouse and that everything would be fine after installation and there would be no problems. In fact, at a speed of 100 km/h, vibration occurs. The tire service checked the tires and replied that if the vibration does not disappear after 2000 km (does not run in), then it needs to be returned, as the storage conditions were incorrect. The tires are new and vibrate at speed, with a mileage of 2000 km. I returned the tires to the store for examination - naturally, they sent a refusal, the experts did not see or notice any defects or vibrations. The car is new, the tires are new, and they vibrate. The store refused, everything is fine with them, although I bought the tires 2 months ago. Avoid this store, it's better to buy more expensive tires with normal storage conditions, rather than what they have, which is a disaster in their warehouse. Now they are forcing me to apply for an independent examination and go to court, there is no other way out. The tires may be fine in general, but the store is terrible (they do not comply with storage conditions, the service is terrible, and consumers suffer afterwards).

I bought winter tires in May and installed them immediately, since I always drive on this type of tire all year round. They were a bit difficult to balance - almost every one had to be rebalanced twice. The ride didn't cause any problems. At first, it seemed like the car was vibrating slightly, I think the tread was getting used to it - after all, it's a winter tire. Braking didn't cause any problems, no signs of trouble. Now, in January of the following year, after driving on snow, ice, and again on asphalt, I can say that I feel confident, and I've never regretted buying these tires. I haven't had a chance to test their resistance to aquaplaning yet.

Excellent tires. Over the past 2 months at a temperature from +4 to -19, they have never failed, on cold asphalt and in snowy slush, they behave predictably, in city mode and on the highway, they do not lose handling.

Beautiful, on acceleration and braking I like it, stable on a straight line. But in turns and curves, it lacks cross-stability, in my subjective opinion, it skids quickly and very strongly. To be honest, I have no experience with SUVs and how their tires work, so I have nothing to compare it to, which is why my assessment is so high. But even on a sedan with increased clearance, tires with longitudinal grooves behaved much more stably during cross-shifts.

Excellent tires, price-quality ratio. I used to buy the same ones for my Discovery 4. They handle the road well and perform well on snow and reasonably on ice. Not noisy.

Tire rating 3+ out of 5. Before Nexen, for the last 6 years, I drove on Continental Viking 7 and Nokian R3. In comparison to them, Wingard is significantly inferior, especially on snowy and icy roads.
In general, it somehow holds, but it's not the same. Unpredictable skidding, both when starting and braking, is a given that you'll have to put up with. On asphalt, subjectively, it's quieter, but they're bought for winter...
The conclusion is as follows: If you're only driving in the city, then maybe the tire will do (especially considering the low cost). But if you're planning to drive on highways, you should definitely choose something else. Driving fast on snow or, even more so, on ice is extremely unsafe.
