The summer tire Yokohama Advan V61 is part of the primary equipment of compact crossovers of Japanese brands, including models with "hybrid" and electric powertrains. It is distinguished by balanced driving qualities, which is largely due to the use of advanced technologies and materials in its creation and production.
The tread pattern of the tire stands out not only for its asymmetrical arrangement of elements, but also for their distribution across functional zones. In fact, the only symmetrically arranged elements are the longitudinal drainage grooves. However, their design has incorporated non-trivial solutions. First and foremost, these are the lightning-shaped edges of the grooves, which prevent the formation of a continuous water film in the contact patch. Another significant feature of the pattern is the presence of three massive longitudinal ribs in the central part. These elements increase course stability at high speeds, providing simplicity in handling. When maneuvering, the longitudinal ribs interact with the wide outer shoulder area, which ensures reliable handling during significant lateral accelerations.
In creating the tire, much attention was paid to adapting the tire's design to the characteristics of compact crossovers, which are distinguished not only by their increased weight but also by their high center of gravity. A significant part of this effort was devoted to optimizing the structure of the carcass. It includes two-layer sidewalls, which maintain the initial shape of the tire even under significant impact from multidirectional acceleration forces. Under the shoulder areas of the tread, additional cord strips are located, preventing their deformation, which on the one hand increases handling accuracy, and on the other hand, prevents uneven wear.
