The Michelin Pilot Sport EV summer tire is designed for dynamic versions of passenger cars equipped with electric and hybrid powertrains. It stands out for its efficiency in transmitting the increased torque of electric motors to the road surface, stability, and precision handling at high speeds, and reduced rolling resistance.
The tread area of the tire is made from two rubber compounds with different properties. In the shoulder areas, a compound with increased thermal conductivity is used, which reduces tire heating during prolonged high-speed driving and, as a result, rolling resistance. This provides a significant saving of battery charge.
The central part of the tread is made from a more rigid compound. This allows for better realization of the increased torque of the electric motor, making the energy recovery process more efficient.
The profile of the tread area is optimized in a special way. Its shape was specially selected to additionally increase the contact patch, making it almost rectangular. This solution provides a more even distribution of the vehicle's weight on the road surface, which has a positive effect not only on traction and handling but also on wear. The level of abrasive impact has been significantly reduced, increasing the tire's service life.
The tread pattern is made asymmetrical, which provides the tire with balanced driving properties. The massive shoulder blocks increase the precision of handling and stability during maneuvering. Continuous longitudinal ribs in the central part ensure stable traction at high speeds, reduce rolling resistance, and wear.
