The new Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport all-season tire has received its first award

Recently, the introduced all-season tire Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport received its first industry award - Ze Award - which is awarded with the support of the French tire industry association Syndicat du Pneu (SdP). 

The award was given to the novelty in the category of "technological innovation" based on the decision of the jury, which includes industry experts, automotive journalists, etc., and at Michelin they noted that the receipt of the award "emphasizes the innovative potential of the company and indicates a significant development of the rapidly growing market for all-season tires".

"The jury decided to mark CrossClimate 3 Sport as a pioneer of a new segment, as it is an all-season tire designed specifically for drivers of sports cars who would like to use the benefits of a year-round tire without compromising safety," said Dominique Stemfel, President of SdP.

CrossClimate 3 Sport is a sports version of the CrossClimate 3 tire, presented ten years after Michelin released "the first summer tires approved for winter use", and the company says that the CC3 Sport occupies a niche that was not previously satisfied by other products for sports car owners, and is certified for use in the winter period in countries with a mild climate. 

The tires are adapted for operation on powerful cars, both with internal combustion engines and with electric power plants, and for traction on wet roads according to the Euro marking system, the maximum possible rating "A" was received, and some technologies were borrowed from auto sports, thanks to which, as the manufacturer emphasizes, a combination of qualities was created that was previously considered impossible, and the tires simultaneously have the 3PMSF marking and in their properties are comparable to summer sports "rubber".

The novelty is also already entering the primary equipment segment and will be installed on the Alpine A390 crossover in the version with the A39 marking, indicating that it was developed exclusively for this car.  

According to Serge Lafon, Director of the Primary Equipment Division at Michelin, during the design of the tires for Alpine, special attention was paid to the fact that they would be maximally suitable for the largest and most powerful car in the line of the French brand, and a balance was ensured between "winter" characteristics, energy efficiency, traction, and steering accuracy. In addition, according to the manufacturer's statements, CrossClimate 3 Sport retains its qualities throughout its entire service life, and Alpine became the first company to homologate the new tires. 

Michelin and Alpine have been cooperating since 2012, and for the A390, in addition to Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport (in size 245/45 R20), Michelin Pilot Sport EV (245/45 R20, for the GT version) is also available - sports tires with improved economy and durability; and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S (245/40ZR21, for the GTS option) - even more sports tires designed to maximize traction on dry and wet surfaces.

In the secondary market, Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport is available from July 1 in 29 sizes from 205/40 R18 to 315/35 R20, and in 2026, the size range is planned to be doubled.
