The Skoda Octavia Tour is a compact passenger wagon. It was produced from 1996 to 2012 and throughout this time was one of the most popular models not only of the Czech brand but also of the entire Volkswagen concern as a whole.

First Generation

The car, which debuted in 1996, was created on the PQ34 platform developed by Volkswagen, sharing it and most of the technical components with virtually all compact models of the concern, from the Audi A3 of the first generation to the Jetta of the 4th generation, having almost the same engine range, with the exception of the "basic" petrol engines. In addition, the list of modifications included a version equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system from Haldex Traction. It also differed in an increased fuel tank of 63 liters, while the standard volume was 55 liters.

Second Generation

In March 2004, the premiere of the next generation wagon took place. This time, a more modern PQ35 platform was used. Compared to its predecessor, it differed in an increased wheelbase, which made it possible to provide passengers in the second row with more space in the leg area. In addition, a fairly critical drawback of the previous model was eliminated, namely the ground clearance under the front and rear bumpers, which significantly reduced the risk of their damage when driving onto a curb. The engine range has been significantly expanded, which has changed significantly throughout the life cycle of the model, along with the transmission. In the last years of production, the wagon received a 6- and 7-speed robotic DSG gearbox. The transmission with a smaller number of gear shifts was received by the "charged" version of the car, equipped with a 2-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 200 horsepower from Golf GTI.
