The Mini Crossover is better known as the Countryman, representing one of its versions, designed exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. It has been produced since 2010.

R60 Model

The car first appeared in public in the form of a namesake concept, which was presented in 2008. The production sample of the crossover was presented two years later. The car was stylistically very similar to the brand's passenger cars, differing from them in increased ground clearance and body type - a 5-door station wagon. In the basic versions, it differed little from the passenger car analogs, having front-wheel drive, a platform from the Paceman, and most of the mechanical components from the BMW 1st and 3rd series. More interesting were the versions with the ALL4 all-wheel drive system with an electrohydraulic differential, which was located directly on the main pair of the gearbox. When driving evenly, the torque was distributed between the axles in an equal ratio, and when accelerating, it could be directed up to 100% to the rear wheels.

F60 Model

The second-generation car debuted in the US in the fall of 2016. It used a new UKL2 platform developed by BMW, on which the Mini Clubman and German brand's subcompact crossovers were also created. The car turned out to be significantly larger than its predecessor, becoming 203 mm longer and 25 mm wider, while maintaining stylistic and conceptual similarities with it. The engine range was significantly revised. Like similar BMW models, standard versions were equipped with an in-line 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a volume of 1.5 liters with turbocharging, with a power range of 101 to 134 horsepower. The most popular versions received a 4-cylinder version of this engine with a volume of 2 liters, which could produce from 189 to 302 horsepower. In 2017, a version with a hybrid powerplant was presented, in which a 3-cylinder engine with a power of 134 horsepower was supplemented with a traction electric motor producing 88 horsepower, as well as a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 76 kWh, located under the rear seat. When working together, the power units allowed reducing fuel consumption to 2.1 liters per 100 km, and the electric range could reach 40 km.

U25 Model

In the fall of 2023, the manufacturer presented a crossover of the third iteration. Despite using the platform from the predecessor, the car has undergone significant changes, while maintaining the initial concept. This is largely due to the preservation of technical ties with the previous model, from which a significant part of the engine range was preserved, primarily 1.5- and 2-liter gasoline and diesel engines. It was supplemented by a fully electric powerplant with one or two electric motors with a power of 201 or 308 horsepower. In both versions, a 1-speed gearbox is used, providing acceleration to "hundred" in 8.6 or 5.6 seconds. The most popular among our compatriots were cars of the first two generations.
