Шины на Chrysler Pacifica (Крайслер)

Chrysler Pacifica from 2003 to 2007 was a mid-size crossover. After being discontinued, the model did not receive a successor, as by that time it was selling extremely poorly due to low build quality and insufficient reliability of engines and transmissions not designed for use in such a heavy vehicle. After Chrysler became one of the structural divisions of the Stellantis corporation, this name was used again, but now in relation to a minivan that has no technical connection to its predecessor.

Crossover

The car presented in 2003 was the first model developed during the period of "merger" of the North American manufacturer with the German Daimler-Benz, which occurred in 1998. The development of the crossover took only 30 months and cost just under $1 billion. The manufacturer positioned it as a large premium-class car at a relatively low cost, with competitors such as the Lexus RX and BMW X5. The machine received an interior and trim materials from Mercedes-Benz, as well as a number of technical solutions borrowed from the German brand's passenger cars. The concept was to offer buyers an extremely versatile car that combined the ground clearance of an SUV, the handling of a passenger sedan, and the capacity and comfort of a minivan. Only the second point was fully realized, in other respects, the Pacifica lost enough, differing in insufficient cargo capacity and towing capabilities by American standards, as well as cramped conditions for third-row passengers. Mercedes-Benz later faced similar problems with its R-Class.

At the start of sales, the crossover in the standard configuration was equipped with two gasoline engines, V6 with a volume of 3.5 and 3.8 liters, with a power of 250 and 210 horsepower. Both power units proved to be too weak for such a heavy car, especially in all-wheel drive modifications. As a result, the engine range was completely revised by 2007. It included a new 4-liter V6 with 255 horsepower and another 6-speed automatic transmission.

Minivan

The first information about the new minivan from Chrysler appeared in the press in the summer of 2013 as part of the manufacturer's "roadmap" for updating its model range. The official premiere of the production car took place in the winter of 2016. Compared to its predecessor, the Town&Country, it differed in a different platform and design, which featured a more sporty style. Technically, the car is close to the 200 sedan, differing from it not only in body type but also in much larger dimensions. However, unlike the crossover with the same name, its weight, thanks to the widespread use of high-strength steel and aluminum, was low enough to be handled by the 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar series, which is installed in the minivan in the standard configuration, along with a 9-speed "automatic". In 2017, the manufacturer introduced a modification with a hybrid power plant. It was distinguished by the use of two electric motors, one of which was the so-called "starter-generator". And in the summer of 2020, the lineup was supplemented with a version with all-wheel drive. Moreover, it was fully mechanical, which made such a minivan unique in the North American market, since at that time its competitor, the Toyota Sienna, in its 4th generation, switched to the E-four system, where the rear axle was driven by a traction electric motor. In our country, the crossover is the most popular, for which the online store "Mosavtoshina" offers a wide range of discs and tires.
