The Acura RL was produced from 1996 to 2012. The car was a mid-size luxury sedan that served as the flagship of the Acura brand, established by Japanese company Honda as part of its expansion into the North American market.

First Generation

The car, introduced in 1996, was a rebadged version of the Legend model, whose name, it turned out, did not associate with the Acura brand in the minds of its buyers. Compared to its predecessor, it stood out with more streamlined body shapes, which noticeably concealed its significant dimensions. In terms of technology, the sedan differed from many of its "classmates" with a longitudinal engine arrangement, which was installed precisely along the axis of rotation of the crankshaft. Second Generation

In 2005, the Japanese brand introduced a sedan of the second generation. Compared to the previous model, it differed in a slightly changed concept, in which there was more sportiness, but not at the expense of comfort. Externally, this was expressed in specific design features of the body, which became much more aggressive than before, due to the sloping front, the sloping roof and the shortened trunk lid. In terms of technology, the change in concept was ensured by the innovative all-wheel drive system SH-AWD, borrowed from the Honda Prelude. It was distinguished by the presence of individual active differentials on the rear axle, with the help of which it was possible to vary the supply of torque to the wheels separately, up to 100%. In total, up to 70% of the available power could be supplied to the rear axle, which made it possible to implement the function of vectoring traction, getting rid of the insufficient maneuverability characteristic of cars with a shifted forward center of mass. The result of this solution was the uncharacteristic handling for large sedans, allowing you to pass turns at high speed without any signs of loss of control.

In addition to advanced technology, the sedan stood out with its equipment. Already in the standard version, there were features such as a keyless entry system, a 260-watt Bose audio system with a subwoofer and active noise cancellation, satellite navigation with voice control, as well as a heating and air conditioning system with a light sensor and GPS, which could maintain a comfortable temperature in the cabin in mixed conditions individually, even if one side was in the shade and the other was on the "sunny" side. The equipment included an active lighting system with LED headlights, where the emitters could rotate depending on the angle of rotation of the steering wheel.
