The tire's tread is made from a rubber compound based on natural rubber and "silica". A highly technological variation of the latter is used, featuring a fine-dispersed powder of silicon dioxide in combination with special polymers that provide the compound with increased strength and resistance to rupture and stretching at the molecular level. The practical result of these innovations is the tire's excellent resistance to abrasive wear.
