The Vauxhall Mokka is one of the versions of the popular subcompact crossover Opel with the same name, designed for the domestic British market. The car has been produced since 2012 with a small break between the first and second generations.

The car, which debuted at the end of 2012, was developed at the South Korean division of General Motors Corporation, using the Gamma II platform. At the start of sales, the engine range was not notable for its diversity, including only three engines - two petrol and one diesel, developing from 115 to 140 horsepower. The least powerful power units were combined with 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions. The 6-range "automatic" was the prerogative of versions starting with the 1.7-liter diesel and turbocharged 1.4-liter engines. Another feature of the standard equipment was front-wheel drive. More expensive trim levels offered four-wheel drive with a clutch on the rear axle.

Second Generation

The next-generation car was presented in the summer of 2020. This time, the development was carried out by the French PSA concern, which at that time had come under the control of the Stellantis corporation. The crossover uses the modular CMP platform, which it shares with all subcompact "crossovers" from Citroen and Peugeot. The new "cart" is distinguished by a third greater stiffness in bending and torsion, as well as an optimized architecture and the widespread use of high-strength steel. As a result, the crossover has become significantly lighter - by 120 kg. But at the same time, it lost four-wheel drive. The engine range has completely changed, consisting of a 1.2-liter inline-three petrol engine and a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine in several versions, differing from each other in power. With the exception of the most dynamic 130-horsepower version, for which an optional 8-range "automatic" is available, all modifications offer a 6-speed manual transmission.

The interior is also completely different from its predecessor. The car received a Pure Panel front panel, in which a single block of a 12-inch digital "instrument panel" and a 7- or 10-inch multimedia system screen prevails. Classic handles and buttons are used to control the climate control unit. In addition, the standard equipment includes an adaptive "cruise" with road marking and sign recognition. Despite the reduction in dimensions, the car has retained a sufficiently spacious trunk - 350 liters under the "curtain".
