The Vauxhall Insignia is a mid-size car in the D-segment, developed and produced by Opel from 2008 to 2022. It is positioned by the manufacturer as the successor to both the Signum and Vectra models.

First Generation

The car's premiere took place in the summer of 2008. The model was created on the new GM Epsilon II platform at the time and was offered with two body types - a 5-door liftback and a station wagon, which used the traditional name Caravan. Another feature was that the car did not use the characteristic Vauxhall V-shaped radiator grille, by which Vauxhall models could be distinguished from the original Opel versions.

Second Generation

In the spring of 2017, the second-generation car debuted. Like its predecessor, it was built on the GM Epsilon II platform, despite the brand rights being transferred to the Stellantis corporation. Initially, the wide range of engines was reduced to one 2-liter petrol engine and two 1.5- and 2-liter diesel engines by 2020. In 2022, the British brand excluded the Insignia from its model range due to low sales of all D-segment cars, as well as the transition to the production of exclusively electric vehicles.
