    Geely Icon debuted in the lineup of Chinese brand models in the fall of 2019, representing, like the same-name concept shown a year earlier, a compact crossover. The car is positioned as an alternative to the popular Coolray, differing from it, first of all, by its non-trivial design.

    Initial version

    The car was created based on the same-name concept of 2018, which, in essence, was a pre-production sample. The difference from it was the full-fledged rearview mirrors, door frames, and luggage rails on the roof. All other non-trivial features of the concept's design were preserved, including the original body side panels and sliding door handles. In terms of dimensions, the crossover turned out to be close to the Kia Soul, having a similar usage concept, while surpassing it in wheelbase and overall length. The salon was distinguished by the presence of more than three dozen niches, drawers, and pockets for small luggage. The central tunnel had a 2-story structure, where the lower tier was a massive shelf with sides. The front console was notable for two 10.25-inch screens used for the instrument panel and multimedia system. Another touch panel was located above the central tunnel, intended for controlling the climate control system. The key buttons for temperature and air flow adjustment remained physical, located on the side ends of the panel. It is worth noting the presence of an ionizer and air quality control system in the climate control system. The list of additional options is notable for the presence of a panoramic roof, automatic parking system, and surround-view cameras.

    In technical terms, the car was notable for its modular BMA platform of its own design, sharing it with the Coolray crossover, but in a modified version, where instead of a semi-dependent beam, a "multi-link" was used. The engine range was represented by one engine - a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline "three" producing 177 hp, taken from the same "Coolray", but in a "pair" with a 7-speed robotic gearbox.

    Updated version

    In 2019, an updated version of the crossover was presented, modernized following the same-platform Coolray. But, unlike it, the exterior appearance changed extremely slightly, due to the decorative elements of the bumpers and radiator grille. There were many more innovations in the salon, where a completely redesigned front console appeared, this time without a massive handle for the front passenger, along with other door cards. Both displays were combined into one block, with the multimedia system screen increasing in size to 12.3 inches. It received Geely's proprietary Galaxy operating system, differing not only in improved graphics and a changed menu but also in expanded functionality. In particular, climate control management was "driven" into it, depriving it of a separate panel. This hardware platform is used to operate the driver's face recognition system and control his state using a camera on the left pillar of the windshield, which also became part of the standard equipment.

    In technical terms, the key innovation was the replacement of the gasoline "three" with a 4-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, producing 181 hp and 290 Nm, which became the first power unit developed after the merger of the corresponding divisions of Geely and Volvo. It is also combined with a 7-speed "robot", but from "soft" hybrids of the Chinese brand with a 48-volt onboard network.
