I was looking for a set of AT tires for my SUV, and I already have a third Niva-Sherp for myself. I really liked the Continental ContiCrossContact AT, but it was discontinued. I bought tires and changed them on April 26, 2019.

About the tire:
I changed from M/T Toyo 245/70 R16 to Grabber AT3 265/70 R16.
Of course, there's a minus in terms of traction, but the big plus is on public roads.

After numerous recommendations from a colleague and his year-round experience with AT tires, I also wanted to switch to universal tires for all occasions. Although I had doubts about the correctness of this choice until the first winter.

Asphalt roads
In the summer, the tires perform excellently. The behavior of the Touareg on asphalt roads has not changed at all (compared to the Bridgestone highway tires)! The only thing that has increased is the noise at high speeds, but it is absolutely not annoying. Despite the softness of the tires, they comfortably withstand speeds of up to 180. Bad roads, potholes, curbs, and everything else are no problem (hello to the Tver and Ryazan roads).

Sand and mud
Here, everything depends on the connection between the steering wheel and the seat. I've traveled a lot, but never in expedition mode. I haven't conquered virgin lands and swamps, but I've conquered muddy forest roads and sandy beaches. Once, while traveling in Karelia, I decided to go down to the lake along a forest road made of sharp stones (laid out by nature). I was very afraid of puncturing the tires on them, but the tires confidently withstood this test!

Winter period
The first half of the 2019/2020 winter was openly... autumnal. Snow fell only on Christmas, and I was on a trip to Finland. Given that in Finland, the roads are cleaned but not sprinkled with anything, my first winter experience on these tires turned out to be quite... slippery. BUT, I want to note that the 2.5-ton Touareg did not turn into a cow on ice. It behaved quite predictably on such roads, the main thing is not to overdo it with speed and keep a reserve for the braking distance.

This only applies to ice and slippery roads. And with snow and "mash" - it's our food!
The "snowy wilderness" is their element! On snow-covered roads with hard ground, it grips and drives!
The "snowy mash" characteristic of our roads in winter is also not a problem. I can safely say that this is a full-fledged winter tire, similar in characteristics to a regular studded tire.

The 2020/2021 winter turned out to be much harsher, but the tires performed no worse. Even at minus 38 (!) degrees, the tires remained soft and behaved predictably (did not become hard).

In general, I advise those who are in doubt - DO NOT doubt!
Over two full years, I have driven almost 32,000 kilometers on these tires. The wear, at most, is 2-3 mm. Not a single puncture (although I caught a couple of self-tapping screws), not a single cut or the slightest bulge. If you are faced with the task of switching to something universal without ambitions to conquer harsh off-road, then I definitely recommend this model, and it's not necessary to look towards more brand-name options.

The tyres were fitted last winter to test them on winter driving. Unfortunately, they were first fitted to wheels with cameras, then the cameras were removed once the tyres had taken shape. The tyres were badly balanced, with weights of around 100-40-100-60 grams. Apart from that, there are no other complaints about the quality. I bought the 235/55 R18 size. It balanced perfectly. Good price/quality ratio. Haven't tested on snow and ice yet (so, in Crimea it's quite a challenge :). After short time of use, I can say: – Excellent handling on dry roads – They brake perfectly, no noise, they simply swallow the road bumps – I drove on off-road terrain, everything was fine. Generally, I'm satisfied with the purchase.

These tires are just great, I highly recommend them. Tested only during the summer and autumn period on asphalt and full-fledged off-road - everything works perfectly fine....

Gave only one star for snow and ice because they are still new, winter they have not seen yet...

I can't evaluate snow and wear, but in all other aspects, I am very satisfied with the tire. Wet grass, sand, just black soil, for AT 5+. I've never driven in clay. Self-cleaning is fast. Price - fire, for such quality and size of rubber!

For that money in that size, the price/quality is on a high level. It doesn't howl on the road. I didn't climb into the sidewall, but it's doing its job 100%.

Excellent tire for the price. Holds the road well in the summer, especially in heavy rain. Handles snowy slush without any issues or wheel spin. Highly recommended!
