Tyre reviews General Tire Grabber Arctic 7

I purchased the General Tire Grabber Arctic tires, model 265/65 R18 116T, which were made in Russia. I installed them on my JAC T8 pickup truck.

The first thing I checked was the tire's elasticity by pressing the tread with my fingers. The tire was quite stiff and only slightly deformed.

When installing the tires, all four tires were very tight and made a hissing sound when inflating to fit the standard rim size of my vehicle. I understand that this is because the tires were stored in large stacks at the store's warehouse.

After installation (before the snow arrived), I drove on asphalt for three days and did not notice any unusual noise or negative issues.

When the first snow fell, I decided to test the tires by stopping the vehicle from a speed of 35-40 km/h to 0. I was disappointed to find that the vehicle took a long time to stop (visually estimated to be over 15 meters) and the ABS system engaged on all wheels with a grinding sound.

During the first turn, without pressing the gas pedal, the rear of the vehicle skidded (which I understand is due to the empty cargo bed of the pickup truck).

When driving at a speed of around 60-65 km/h on a straight, snowy road (with a temperature of -5°C and 5-7 cm of snow), the vehicle was pulled into the adjacent lane due to the slight drift on the road.

Driving on wet snow with a depth of 10 cm ± showed that the tread does not clog with snow, which was a positive finding. I did not test deeper snow as it has not been piled up in my region yet.

In Moscow, it's okay if you don't speed, it handles the road normally and it's okay on snow, but not off-road, of course 🙂

Indeed, very quiet tires. On dry roads, not very grippy - had to turn on all-wheel drive, otherwise the rear wheels would slip too often - got tired of adjusting, can't press the pedal either from a standstill or while moving. On snow, they drive quite confidently. On ice, poorly. If compared to other "American" ones - Hercules, these are worse. Not to mention the familiar Conti and Hakkas. Haven't used Chinese ones, can't compare. It's too early to talk about wear. Can get used to driving - better than on summer tires.

Very decent tires for the money

I purchased them from Mosavtoshina in the fall of 2024. I bought them through an order without touching the product (I won't do that again)

The tires are made in Russia and are very stiff to the touch, you can press the tread with your fingers only slightly. I installed them immediately after purchase on my JAC T8 (pickup truck), all four wheels had to be inflated with air because they didn't fit on the disk (standard size tires for this vehicle), I anticipated this, since they are stored in huge stacks at the company's warehouse. After installation, I drove for 4-6 days without snow, noise, or any problems, I didn't notice any issues. The first snow revealed all the drawbacks of these tires!!!

They don't brake at all, every turn results in the car skidding (I understand what I'm driving), and the scariest thing is that the car changed lanes to the neighboring lane due to slight rutting on the road!!!

This tire is not suitable for public roads (in winter), you can get yourself killed and injure others

I'm very disappointed with my choice (I was swayed by the fact that it's made in the USA)

The first snowfall in my region showed that it's extremely dangerous to drive on snowy roads with these tires, the stability control system kicked in several times in a row (on a straight stretch, I just barely touched the snowy slush in the center of the road), and every time I stop, the ABS crunches, there's no traction at all!
