The studded winter tire Yaroslavl Ya-620 is a further development of one of the popular models of this domestic manufacturer Ya-512. Like its predecessor, this model is mainly designed for domestic passenger cars. However, some tire sizes allow this tire to be used on many foreign passenger cars.
When developing the tread of this model, domestic tire manufacturers remained true to the V-shaped symmetrical directional tread pattern, which carries the characteristics of old Finnish Nokia tire models. The tread pattern of the Yaroslavl Ya-620 tire consists entirely of four-sided blocks with sharp corners and elliptical faces. At the same time, the angle of inclination of the tread blocks changes from straight in the shoulder areas to almost 45 degrees in the center of the tread. In the center of the tread, the blocks form a kind of longitudinal rib, which gave the tire good directional stability.
In the middle part of the tread, the blocks are arranged at an angle of approximately 45 degrees relative to the direction of movement, which provides effective acceleration on compacted snow and ice. The tread blocks of the shoulder areas are arranged at almost a right angle to the direction of movement, which significantly increases the effectiveness of deceleration on slippery surfaces.
To ensure reliable confident behavior on ice, the tire is equipped with 96 studs, forming four continuous rows. Such a arrangement of studs made it possible to achieve exceptionally effective braking on icy surfaces. Additionally, all tread blocks are equipped with S-shaped lamellas, which not only form a multitude of additional grip edges but also significantly increase the stiffness of the blocks, which improved the tire's handling on asphalt.
Main features of the Yaroslavl Ya-620 model
- A significantly revised V-shaped design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern provides very good traction on snow and ice;
- Four-row studding in combination with optimal stud placement led to a significant improvement in the main characteristics when driving on icy surfaces;
- A multitude of tread blocks equipped with S-shaped lamellas, thanks to which the tire demonstrates confidence and safety when driving on any winter roads;
- Excellent acceleration and braking efficiency on compacted snow, thanks to the multidirectional arrangement of tread blocks.
