Winter non-studded tire Doublestar DW16+ is designed for passenger cars. Its tread combines longitudinal rows of blocks with numerous wave-shaped sipes. The central and shoulder areas differ in shape and arrangement of elements, forming an advanced network of grooves and biting edges in contact with the road.
Longitudinal and transverse grooves
The tread is divided by longitudinal channels into several rows. Within these rows, blocks are separated by transverse and diagonal grooves. In the central areas, the sipes are arranged at various angles, while in the shoulder zones they extend toward the edges of the tread. The connection between longitudinal and transverse grooves creates a drainage system for removing water from the contact patch.
Dense sipe network
Block surfaces are covered with thin, wave-shaped sipes. Sipes are present both in the central area and on shoulder blocks. The bends in these cuts create numerous short edges that complement the larger block faces. In the shoulder zones, transversely elongated elements divided by open grooves are clearly visible. As a result, the tread surface combines large blocks with finely siped individual elements.
