The mid-size sedan MG 7 has been produced since 2007. The car became a landmark model for the brand, as it marked the beginning of the next stage of its development after joining the Chinese conglomerate SAIC.

First Generation

The car, which debuted in 2007, was available in two trim levels. In the first case, it was a modified version of the previously produced ZT model with twin headlights, and in the second case, it was a Rover 75 V8 with twin second-generation headlights. Externally, the car differed from the "original" only in LED rear lights and wheels with a different design. The equipment included a new audio system, a redesigned ventilation and heating system, and a sunroof. From the "arsenal" of the British brand, the concept of Rover's Drive was taken, as a result of which the car received more noise and vibration insulation, handles on the driver's side for easier access to the cabin, as well as inflatable "curtains" for the front seats. Under the hood were Rover K-series engines - a 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-four and a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, but in a modified version, meeting the more stringent Euro-4 environmental standards. In this form, the car was produced until 2013, after which it was discontinued.

Second Generation

The car of the next generation was presented only in 2022. This time, it was positioned as a "passenger" flagship of the brand, but at the same time, it retained the concept of its predecessors from the 2010s. Like other MG models with black logos on the body, the car was a model with a pronounced sporty handling and dynamics, differing from many of its "classmates" in power units - exclusively gasoline engines, and not electric and "hybrid" installations. But the layout turned out to be standard for inexpensive models - front-wheel drive and transverse engine placement. In terms of dimensions and body type, the car is close to the Skoda Superb, but stylistically, it is its complete opposite, offering more muscular body lines, frameless doors, large exhaust pipes, and a spoiler that extends at speeds over 100 km/h. The exterior is "reinforced" by an engine - a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with a variable geometry turbocharger. Under peak loads, the power unit produces up to 261 hp and 405 Nm. It works in "pair" with a 9-speed "automatic". The standard equipment includes an electronically controlled differential. With such components, the liftback accelerates to "hundred" in 6.5 seconds, accelerating to 230 km/h.

In terms of interior, the car stands out with a minimalist style, in which the prevailing glass panel covers the instrument cluster and multimedia system displays with a diagonal of 10.25 and 12.3 inches, respectively. Under the windshield, there is a projection screen, and throughout the cabin, 14 speakers of the Bose audio system are "scattered".
