Tires on Lincoln (Линкольн)

The Lincoln automobile brand is owned by the eponymous American company, which is, in turn, a structural division of Ford. Until 2020, it was one of the leading brands in the US in the segment of luxury passenger cars, competing with Cadillac, owned by General Motors. However, since 2021, the brand's product line has undergone significant changes and currently consists exclusively of crossovers and SUVs.

History of creation

The Lincoln Motor Company was founded in August 1917 by Henry Leland and his son Wilfred. Henry Leland was one of the founders of Cadillac, which he sold to General Motors in 1909, remaining its head until 1917, when he was forced to leave the post due to a conflict with GM management. The new company was named after Abraham Lincoln, the first US president, for whom Henry Leland voted in 1864. The financing of Lincoln Motor's activities was carried out thanks to a $10 million contract for the production of Liberty V12 aircraft engines. The company assembled them from components from Ford, Buick, Cadillac, Marmon, and Packard. By the end of World War I, the Lincoln Motor plant employed about 6,000 workers. After its end, in late January 1920, the company was reorganized into an automobile manufacturer. On September 16 of the same year, the first "Lincoln" - Model L - rolled out of the factory in Detroit. Unfortunately, the transition from military to civilian production was extremely painful, which is why the company was on the verge of bankruptcy by 1922 and was transferred to external management. In February of the same year, the brand was acquired by Ford, for which the purchase of Lincoln had personal reasons. In 1902, a group of investors led by Henry Leland forced Henry Ford to leave the Henry Ford Company, which was then reorganized into Cadillac. Another reason for the acquisition of Lincoln was that Ford did not have models aimed at wealthy buyers, and GM's Cadillac was successful at the time.

With the new owner, Lincoln got a "second wind". Within a year, the company's enterprise was modernized and expanded, and the first L model underwent a number of changes, which allowed the company to sell one and a half times more cars in 1923 than the previous year. In 1924, Lincoln began to be used by the US President, becoming a state limousine. By 1930, the brand had taken a dominant position in the luxury car segment, remaining one of the leaders in the segment to this day.

Model range

Starting from 2021, the brand's product line has undergone significant changes. Almost the entire model range is represented by crossovers and SUVs. The only exception is the Zephyr sedan. The representative model is a richly equipped copy of the Ford Mondeo, which is sold on the domestic Chinese market. In North America, only SUVs and crossovers are available. All of them also have "clones" in the Ford line, starting from Escape and ending with Expedition. In addition to the number of options, Lincoln differs in the range of engines, and some models still have classic V6 and V8 engines available. Additionally, there are options with an increased wheelbase, such as the Navigator L. Considering the technical characteristics of Lincoln cars, it's not so easy to find tires for them. Nevertheless, in the "Mosavtoshina" online store, there is a fairly large selection of tires for these vehicles.
