Tires on Lincoln Navigator (Линкольн)
The full-size Lincoln Navigator SUV has been produced by Ford since 1997. Most of the vehicles are sold in North America. Its appearance is due to the trend towards luxury models based on standard family cars, which began to take shape in the late 1980s. Another significant factor was profitability, as this SUV was created on the basis of the relatively low-cost Ford Expedition, which debuted in 1996 and is a modified version of the F-150 pickup truck.First Generation
The vehicle, which debuted in 1997, was developed in parallel with the Ford Expedition. Both SUVs were mechanically related to the F-series pickups, except for the front independent suspension and air elements for leveling the body and providing a smooth ride. The SUV inherited engines, transmission, and rear-wheel drive from the pickup truck. Initially, the vehicle used a combination of a 5.4-liter V8 Triton engine with 230 horsepower and a 4-speed automatic transmission. After a few years, the powertrain was upgraded to 300 horsepower. The SUV differed from the standard Ford Expedition in its redesigned front end, styled to match the brand's passenger cars. The interior had more common features, including a front panel taken from the Ford without any changes. The key differences were the presence of a large number of decorative elements made of natural wood, high-quality carpeting, and the use of factory noise and vibration insulation. The equipment was more extensive, some of which was unique for that time, including pedal effort adjustment, separate radio and climate control for rear passengers.
Second Generation
In the spring of 2002, mass production of the second-generation SUV began. Despite significant changes in its exterior, the vehicle continued to use the Ford Expedition's platform and technical components, including a fully independent rear suspension. The air elements in the chassis were retained, but now there was a system for automatically lowering the body by 2.54 cm when stopped to facilitate entry and exit. The interior featured a new instrument panel with a design different from the Expedition, which had hints of the 1961 Continental. Additionally, there were decorative inserts made of walnut, nickel-plated switches, 120 LEDs for interior lighting, and analog clocks with a satin nickel dial that could be closed with a special rotating door.Third Generation
In 2007, the third-generation SUV premiered. The vehicle retained the proportions of its predecessor, still reminiscent of its connection to the Ford Expedition. However, the front and rear ends were significantly redesigned. The front used a two-level layout for the fog and headlights integrated into the radiator grille. The hood had a domed shape. The rear received taillights from the MKZ sedan. The interior featured predominantly rectangular shapes, with natural wood and satin nickel prevailing in the trim. Technically, the SUV was again related to the F-series pickups, borrowing their T1 platform and a significant number of components, including a four-wheel-drive system with a transmission box without a reduced range, which was one of the key differences from the Ford Expedition.Fourth Generation
In 2017, the current-generation SUV debuted. As before, it represents a luxury version of the Ford Expedition, using a platform from the F-series pickups. Almost all body elements are made of aluminum, which, however, did not result in significant weight savings - only 90 kg. Even in the base version, the vehicle's weight exceeds 2.5 tons. The SUV is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with two turbochargers, which is a modified version of the power unit from the previous model, producing 456 horsepower. The engine works in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission developed jointly with GM. In the standard version, this is a rear-wheel-drive wagon. More expensive versions offer a four-wheel-drive system with automatic front-wheel engagement. There are more differences from the predecessor in the interior, which is executed in a minimalist style. Instead of an instrument panel, a 12-inch wide-format display is used. Another screen is located in the center of the front console. In addition to it, a WiFi router for 10 devices and 11 connectors for charging various gadgets, including those with a voltage of 110V, are already available in the "base" version. Moreover, all versions of this model have three rows of seats, and in the most expensive versions, their backs are "folding" and offer three dozen parameters for adjustment. The second row consists of "captain's" chairs separated by a large box with cup holders and a niche under them. In the most expensive versions, the vehicle is equipped with wheels and tires up to 22 inches in diameter. Such models, among others, are presented in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
