The car is built on the modular PTA platform, which made its debut in this crossover. However, structurally, it is a modified version of the D8 platform, which was previously used in the Evoque and Discovery Sport. Its advantage is excellent variability in terms of using various combinations of components, as well as extremely efficient use of available space, resulting in passengers, even on the rear sofa, not feeling cramped, and the trunk having an unexpectedly large volume for a car of such dimensions — 577 liters under the curtain.

The applied platform made the compact crossover quite heavy — over 1900 kg of curb weight, which is significantly more than most "classmates" of other brands. This is partly offset by the engine range, consisting of petrol and diesel engines of the Ingenium family. At the start of sales, the "base" was a 2-liter diesel inline "four" with 150 horsepower. It is also available in more powerful versions, producing 180 and 240 horsepower. In turn, the petrol part is represented by a 2-liter engine, but with at least 200 horsepower. The most powerful version of it, with 300 horsepower, provides the crossover with dynamics corresponding to its appearance. Another important feature is the use of a 9-speed automatic transmission, which is standard equipment for the most powerful versions.
