The elongated version of the Q70L marks the end of an era for large atmospheric sedans in the Japanese premium brand's lineup. This vehicle, which is a deep restyling of the previous generation "Infiniti M", represents a concentration of luxury technologies and powerful power units created during the market's transition from sedans to crossovers.Evolution of design and status
The model was introduced as part of a global rebranding, under which all sedans received the "Q" index. Despite the name change, the Q70L retained its signature sporty elegance, based on the platform of the flagship Nissan Cima (Y51) sedan. Visual changes were point-wise but significant:
- modernized LED optics with a new pattern of daytime running lights;
- updated chrome trim and a separate rear bumper for a more status appearance;
- luxury exterior elements, including electromagnetic door and trunk lid drives.
Interior and technologies
The Q70L salon was rethought with an emphasis on tactile comfort and individual approach. The base trim included a salon trim made of semi-aniline leather and inserts made of natural silver wood, an improved body noise and vibration isolation system. Also, there was a advanced safety system for its time: forward collision warning (FCW), blind spot monitoring (BSW), and an intelligent Around View Monitor system. In the top trim levels, there were individual entertainment systems for rear passengers, seats with electric drive and adjustable backrest tilt, as well as a number of other "chips" that distinguish the car from its analogs in the class.
Engineering philosophy
Unlike modern downsizing trends, the Q offered classic powerful atmospheric units: V6 3.7L, 335hp - a high-revving, smooth and reliable engine, available in rear- and all-wheel drive versions. As well as V8 5.6L, 422hp - a flagship engine with a VVEL phase change system, offering outstanding traction and status.
