The vehicle debuted in 1998, representing a modification of the commercial GAZel model, differing from it in smaller dimensions and improved maneuverability. It uses a shortened frame with a smaller wheelbase, a spring suspension in the front and a single-axle rear axle, designed for a load of up to 900 kg. As in the case of the "original", the manufacturer offered a wide range of modifications, including a all-metal van, chassis, light truck and microbus with two height options. In addition, the lineup included versions with all-wheel drive 2-range transmission, where the front axle was connected through Hooke's joints.

Engine Range

Throughout the entire production period of the vehicle, engines of the 402nd family of the Volga Motor Plant were used. Moreover, in the first years of production, they had a carburetor fuel system. Later, the vehicle received a modernized version of the engine with the index 406, which was equipped with electronic fuel injection. For a short time, the model was equipped with a 2.4-liter Chrysler gasoline engine from American brand cars. Since autumn 2010, versions with a turbocharged Cummins diesel engine of Chinese production with a volume of 2.8 liters and a power of 120 hp have been produced.

Restyled Version

In 2003, the manufacturer presented an updated version of the model, which differed in the changed design of the front part, similar to the GAZel family cars with exactly the same headlights and instrument panel in the cabin. In February 2010, the model underwent modernization again, receiving components from the recently presented GAZel-Business lineup.
