The GAZ Gazelle City is a small-capacity bus designed for use in passenger transportation, primarily on urban routes. The vehicle appeared in the production lineup of the Russian company in 2020.

Main Features

The start of serial production of this model was preceded by a fairly long development cycle, which included, among other things, the demonstration of several concepts, the first of which appeared as early as 2016. The final version of the bus was presented in 2019, shortly after the launch of the GAZelle NN series into mass production, from which the new model borrowed the platform, front design, and most of the mechanical components and units. Under the hood was a 2.8-liter inline four-cylinder turbo diesel engine from the Chinese division of Cummins, producing 140 horsepower. The power unit worked in tandem with a 5-speed manual transmission, which, together with the engine, was shared with the GAZelle Next, along with disc brakes and rear-wheel drive. The key difference from the truck was the frame-type body with 2-leaf outward-opening doors, which already had an electric drive in the standard equipment. Another feature was the presence of a low-floor platform next to them and an opening ramp for entry/exit of passengers with strollers and passengers with limited mobility. It is worth noting the use of pneumatic elements in the suspension, which allowed changing the ground clearance, reducing or increasing the height of the bus floor in the range from 250 to 350 mm. In the basic version of the equipment, it was designed to carry up to 17 passengers. The manufacturer offered a special version of the model with space for strollers and vehicles for passengers with limited mobility. In this version, the bus offered 14 seats.
