The GAZ Gazelle Next is a line of modernized vans and medium-capacity trucks of Russian production. It has been released since 2013, simultaneously with the regular "Gazelle", which is now called "GAZelle Business".

History of creation

The first experimental samples of the car appeared two years before the serial release. To do this, it was necessary to modernize the enterprise for the production of stamps and molds, on which a new hydraulic press Quintus FlexForm appeared. By 2012, about 300 copies had been produced, which were transferred to trial operation. Based on its results, a prototype of the second version was created, which was shown at the Moscow auto show in the fall of the same year. Serial production of the commercial vehicle began in the spring of 2013. Initially, it was equipped with a 2.8-liter Cummins diesel engine, which was supplied from China. It was modernized taking into account the cold climate through the heating of the fuel filter and pre-start glow plugs. As an additional option, a pre-start heating of the cooling liquid was offered, both of the engine itself and of the cabin heater. From the spring of 2014, the line was supplemented with a cargo truck with a double cab, as well as a passenger version in several options - for city and intercity routes. At the same time, a 3-liter gasoline engine of the Evrotech family produced by UMZ appeared in the engine range. Both power units work in pair with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Modernized version

In 2021, the manufacturer presented a modernized version of the car. Externally, it differed from the changed front part, where the LED headlights of the headlight and the hood, which contains more faces than before, were particularly notable. Inside the cabin, a different instrument panel with a steering wheel was installed, where heating and buttons for controlling various systems appeared, and under it a button for starting the engine, replacing the anachronistic key ignition lock. The driver's seat received a pneumatic suspension. From the moment of the start of sales, the car turned out to be extremely popular, offering an attractive combination of reliability, comfort, and low price, remaining so to this day.
