I've put the same tire on the front axle as the rear set. Got tired of the semi-slicks on my face, their noise. Honestly, I'm surprised. It holds very well, even on dirty and cold asphalt. After semi-slicks, I don't hear the tire at all. It reacts much less to road unevenness.
