The Pirelli PZero Winter 2 winter tire is designed for use primarily in premium-class passenger cars, including their most dynamic modifications. It is developed taking into account the specific climate features in European countries, distinguishing itself with the highest performance on snowy and wet surfaces.
High efficiency on slippery surfaces
The tread pattern has a typical layout for this brand with a characteristic V-shaped arrangement of drainage elements. Their number compared to previous models has been significantly increased, which has allowed to improve traction and braking properties on snow and wet surfaces. This ability is further enhanced by the large length of the grooves and their curved shape, as well as numerous intersections with each other. In parallel with them, numerous lamellas are located, which, in addition to the "three-dimensional" profile of the vertical walls, have an uneven cross-section of the edges. This increases their ability to hold snow in the tread, further increasing the grip properties in such conditions.
2-layer tread structure
Another important feature of the tire is the two-layer structure of the tread. Its inner part is made of a more rigid compound, resistant to deformation. This increases the directional stability and precision of handling at high speeds, while reducing rolling resistance and preventing rapid wear of the tread. The outer part is made of a "winter" rubber compound, which, in addition to "silica", contains a special polymer complex. It expands the range of "operating" temperatures of the tread, in which its elasticity is maintained at an optimal level, significantly improving the traction-grip properties in almost any weather and road conditions. This compound prevents the tread from cracking under thermal stress and rapid abrasive wear.
Main features:
- the tread pattern with a "grid" structure of drainage grooves and a large number of lamellas provides reliable grip properties on any slippery surfaces;
- the two-layer structure of the tread gives the tire balanced operating properties, providing a high level of each of them;
- the practically unchanged stiffness of the tread elements from the center to the edge of the tread ensures stable grip and ease of handling at high speeds.
