The Marshal WS31 winter tire is an exact copy of the Kumho WinterCraft SUV ice WS31 model, designed for SUVs and crossovers. It, in turn, was developed based on the Kumho WinterCraft ice Wi31, differing from it with a slightly modified tread pattern and a number of improvements to the carcass design. For buyers, this fact is beneficial, as it allows them to purchase one of the latest developments from the well-known South Korean manufacturer at an attractive price.
This model is studdable, i.e., its tread has provisions for installing studs. They are arranged in such a way that they form 20 continuous rows. Most of them are located in the central part of the tread, i.e., where the maximum pressure on the road surface is applied. Near the stud installation sites are the XT-Turbine 3D zones. In this part of the tread, there is a special design that promotes faster removal of ice debris.
Without studs, the traction properties on ice are ensured by numerous lamellas, which, due to the original shape of the walls, have received the name Honeycomb 3D-sipe. In a vertical cut, they are very similar to honeycombs. Such a design allows the blocks to remain very rigid when the lamellas are open, which has a positive effect on handling while improving traction properties on ice.
