8-row stud pattern
One of the characteristic features of the tire is the studs. The arrangement of the studs forms 8 continuous rows, and the number of these elements has been increased. To meet European requirements for the impact of studs on the road, Asian tire manufacturers have taken the same approach as many other "colleagues in the industry" - they have reduced the size of the tungsten carbide insert in contact with the surface. Another borrowed feature is the organization of special zones around the stud installation points for intensive removal of ice chips. Special protrusions on the tread crush the ice chips, allowing the tire to grip the icy surface more strongly.
Saw-toothed lamellas
Another factor that determines the tire's high performance on slippery surfaces is the lamellas. The entire tread is covered with them, providing several thousand gripping edges. It is these edges that ensure the tire's efficiency on ice and packed snow, especially when accelerating and braking. Most of the grooves are located perpendicular to the direction of movement.
The developers have managed to increase the number of these elements without deteriorating the handling characteristics. The walls of the lamellas have a saw-toothed shape, which limits the mobility of the separated parts of the block when subjected to transverse acceleration forces. This significantly accelerates the transmission of forces to the tire's structural elements, allowing it to maintain stability and providing quick and accurate steering.
Multifunctional drainage system
To a significant extent, the tire's high operational characteristics are ensured by the multifunctionality and efficiency of the drainage system. The tread contains a large number of wide channels. In the central part, they are inclined at a significant angle, which allows using centrifugal forces that arise during wheel rotation to accelerate the cleaning process of the contact patch. At the intersection of the drainage grooves, the tread has the ability to capture and retain snow from the road surface, which enhances traction with it. A similar effect is observed when driving during thaws. In the shoulder areas, the walls of the drainage channels have a saw-toothed shape, crushing the snow mass and ensuring its faster removal from the tread.
Wide longitudinal rib in the center
The entire central part of the tread represents a very wide longitudinal rib of a tapered shape. This element is continuous throughout its length, which, in combination with its massiveness, provides the tire with increased directional stability and stable behavior at high speeds. The numerous angles and edges also give it additional longitudinal traction properties.
