Recently, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport summer tire has been the flagship model of tires for passenger cars. It would be logical to assume that we are talking about their most dynamic versions, as well as sports cars. The tire is included in the equipment of the BMW 8-Series, Maserati MC20 and Lamborghini Huracan STO. During its development, solutions that were previously used in tires for road-racing and proved themselves on the best side were applied. The strong point of this model is its grip properties on dry pavement, effective braking, and cross-country stability.
New rubber compound composition
A new rubber compound for the tread was developed "from scratch" specifically for this tire. Its composition, as before, is based on silicon dioxide. However, the percentage of this component has been increased even more compared to the compound of the previous generation tire, which became possible due to the use of a different technology for producing the rubber compound. As a result, it was possible to significantly improve the grip properties on wet pavement and during cross accelerations.
Modified tread pattern
The design of the tread pattern has also undergone significant changes and has been redesigned. The asymmetrical pattern is divided into two parts - outer and inner. Each of them is a functional area that provides certain operational properties. In particular, the outer side contains a wide double longitudinal rib, which is "responsible" for the accuracy of steering and course stability. The adjacent outer shoulder area provides these properties during maneuvering.
The inner side of the tread with elongated transverse edges allows for the most efficient implementation of high traction and braking effort, especially on wet pavement. It is worth noting the "three-dimensional" profile of the narrow crescent-shaped blocks installed on special "stands" that limit their mobility. Another important feature is the increased volume and direction of most of the drainage grooves against the direction of movement. This guarantees a low risk of aquaplaning even in heavy rain.

- the "three-dimensional" profile of the crescent-shaped blocks increases the accuracy of steering, stability of traction properties during longitudinal accelerations.
