Bridgestone supplied tires for the Maserati MCPura
For the Maserati MCPura, which was unveiled last year and is the successor to the MC20, the first supercar from the Italian brand, the exclusive tires are the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, which were jointly developed with the automaker and feature the MGT (Maserati Genuine Tyres) marking on the sidewalls.
The MCPura is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with twin turbocharging, producing 630 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h in under 2.9 seconds, and the Bridgestone tires were developed using the company's extensive experience in motorsports to maximize handling and control, which, according to the tire company, helps to unlock the full potential of the supercar.
“Creating tires for such individual orders is a great example of our research and development capabilities,” noted Adrien Tormann, Director of Sales in the OE sector of Bridgestone in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), adding that “the knowledge gained from such projects is later used in the development of our award-winning tires for the secondary market”.
The Potenza Sport for the MCPura features a modified asymmetric tread pattern, which, according to the manufacturer, improves feedback and stability in corners, as well as being optimized for optimal force transmission and expanding the working range of the tires. Additionally, the specially developed rubber compound and carcass design improve the even distribution of pressure in the contact patch and increase the resistance to heat, allowing for more stable results on the racing track.
During the development of the tires, the latest virtual design and predictive modeling technologies were used, which accelerated the process of bringing the tires in line with the required specifications, and Bridgestone says that joint tests with Maserati in real-world conditions confirmed that the tires provide "exceptional dynamics", including at high lateral loads, and maintain stability at high speeds, which is a critical factor for vehicles in this category.
Bridgestone and Maserati have been collaborating for many years, and the Japanese company has previously prepared tires for the MC20, as well as the Grecale crossover and its electric version, the Grecale Folgore.
The tires for the MCPura were developed and manufactured in Europe, and are installed on the vehicle in sizes 245/35ZR20 at the front and 305/30ZR20 at the rear.
