The Tata Tiago has been produced by the Indian company since 2016. The car is a subcompact 5-door hatchback, mainly designed for urban use.

Initial Version

The car was created as part of the update of the Indian brand's model range, where it replaced the not very successful in terms of sales Bolt. It was built on the Tata X1 platform, a simplified version of the "cart" from the previous model. The engine range was completely changed, switching to 3-cylinder gasoline engines. The base versions were equipped with a 1.2-liter engine, producing 86 hp and 114 Nm of torque, working in pair with a 5-speed manual transmission, or with its robotic version with a single clutch. As an alternative, a 3-cylinder diesel power unit with a volume of 1.1 liters was offered. In the fall of 2018, a "charged" version of the hatchback with a turbocharged version of the 1.2-liter gasoline engine appeared in the lineup, which added 29 hp to the power, developing 112 hp. Externally, this modification was distinguished by a "sports" radiator grille, a more aggressive front bumper, and twin exhaust pipes at the back.

Updated Version

In 2020, the car underwent a planned update, a significant part of which affected the exterior. In particular, it received a different design of the front part, with the hood located slightly higher than before, which added space between it and the engine. The salon was limited to minimal innovations - a new upholstery and small decorative elements appeared. The content of the standard equipment was largely determined by the current Indian legislation, including two airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS.

In technical terms, the key innovation was the appearance of a modified 1.2-liter "atmospheric" engine, which now met the BS6 environmental standard, demonstrating the same power and torque figures as before. The diesel engine present in the predecessor was excluded due to low demand and the need for significant investments to bring it into compliance with environmental standards.
