Tires on Tata Harrier (Тата)
In January 2019, the Indian automotive giant Tata Motors introduced its response to the demand for modern diesel crossovers — the five-seater Tata Harrier. This model took a strategically important place in the brand's hierarchy, becoming an intermediate link between the compact "Tata Nexon" and the more spacious "Tata Safari".Technical Concept
The key feature of the crossover that brought it to a new level was the advanced OmegaArc platform. This is not just a chassis, but a deep adaptation of the premium monocoque architecture D8, known from the Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar E-Pace models. The task of Tata Motors engineers was to adapt the advanced, but expensive platform to the requirements of economically efficient production without critically damaging the characteristics. The result was an optimized modular architecture. Compared to the original, the proportion of expensive ultra-high-strength steel was reduced and the alloys were revised, which made it possible to maintain high body stiffness and the presence of programmable deformation zones for passive safety, but reduce costs. The rear multi-link scheme was replaced with a more compact and economical configuration with a twist beam and reactive traction, preserving worthy ride quality. The front suspension remained the same — a "MacPherson" strut with a stabilizer of transverse stability.
The "Harrier" was offered exclusively in a front-wheel drive configuration. The braking system used efficient ventilated discs at the front and drum mechanisms at the rear. Under the hood worked a proven power unit — a 2.0-liter turbodiesel Multijet II from FCA. The engine produced 170 horsepower and a solid torque of 350 Nm, available in a wide range of revolutions.
Technological Equipment and Update
The internal equipment is a clear demonstration of how modern technologies make driving more comfortable, informed, and safe. The cabin is built around the concept of a digital hub, which combines entertainment, information, and control over the car. The central place in the interface is occupied by a modern 8.8-inch multimedia system. Its high resolution and responsive interface provide convenient access to the car's settings, navigation, and entertainment. In front of the driver is a fully digital 7-inch TFT instrument cluster. Unlike analog dials, it can flexibly change the configuration, displaying priority information.
The crossover offers two levels of adaptive control. The first is a three-mode drive mode selection system (Eco, City, Sport), which finely tunes the engine, transmission, and steering response to the driving style or road conditions, balancing between economy and dynamics. The second and key element, inherited from the engineering heritage of Land Rover, is the Terrain Response system. It allows the driver to adapt the behavior of the car to complex surfaces with one turn of the selector.
In 2023, the car was updated. Technical innovations included a new media system with a 10.25-inch screen, a 7-inch instrument panel, a 360-degree camera, and a package of ADAS systems for semi-autonomous driving. At the same time, its main equipment, including the size of the disks and tires, which can always be purchased in the "Mosavtoshina" online store, remained the same.
