Second Generation

The pickup of the next generation debuted in 2019. The update turned out to be much more large-scale than before, without affecting only the cab, which was taken from the previous model without any changes. The design of the front part was completely redesigned, stylized as the exterior of the 1500 pickup, which was presented shortly before. Already at the start of sales, three trim options were available, differing, among other things, in headlights. The interior was also borrowed from the junior version, differing, in essence, only in the rotating "disc" of the automatic transmission selector. Top trim levels stood out with a 12-inch "portrait" tablet. Another important feature was the presence of a large number of sound and vibration insulation mats, as well as acoustics with active noise cancellation. The new multimedia system differed in the ability to connect cameras with a circular view and an additional camera on the trailer. The standard equipment included an adaptive "cruise" with automatic braking function.

In technical terms, the pickup also changed significantly. First of all, due to a different frame, which is almost entirely made of high-strength steel, which increased its strength for bending and torsion. In combination with dual-slope rear tires, this allowed for a significant increase in payload capacity - up to 3.5 tons. The maximum weight of the towed load can reach 15.9 tons. Increased cargo capabilities led to changes in the rear suspension, which received other springs in the standard version. The possibility of adding pneumatic elements to them was preserved. Such a version has a special loading mode, in which the rear part of the pickup is lowered to the lowest position, and the springs differ in a smaller number of leaves. Another change that led to an increase in payload capacity was the replacement of the base engine. Instead of the previous 5.7-liter power unit, a 6.4-liter "atmospheric" engine is used, developing 416 horsepower and 582 Nm, which was previously installed on the previous model. It also belongs to the Hemi family, having a function of deactivating 4 out of 8 cylinders at low or static load. The engine is combined with an 8-speed "automatic" from ZF, but in a modified version, differing in a different control program.

As an alternative, a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8 from the previous pickup is offered, which has undergone another cycle of modernization. It turned out to be quite significant, as it led to changes in most components, including the cylinder block, which did not affect its performance as much as its mass, which decreased by 60 kg at once. In the standard version, this power unit produces 365 horsepower and 1152 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed "automatic" from Chrysler, and top modifications received its more powerful version - 406 horsepower and 1356 Nm. It works in a "pair" with a transmission from Aisin with the same number of gear shifts. Both boxes have also been updated, providing faster and smoother gear shifting. "By default" this pickup has rear-wheel drive. For an additional fee, a part-time all-wheel drive system with mechanical or "electronic" connection of the front axle is offered.
