Starting from 2003, sales of the second generation of the model began, which, despite its similarity to the first, had more impressive dimensions. In the interior trim, more high-quality materials were used, and many new electronic systems appeared. In addition, some cars were equipped with air suspension, which provided several clearance options, maximally adapting the car to both highway driving and off-road conditions.

At the initial stage, the model was equipped with a 3-liter engine, and for the American market, a 3.3-liter engine. Later, it was unified, and a 3.5-liter gasoline engine was installed, and the model was named RX350. The model underwent a restyling in 2009, which was more of an aesthetic nature, affecting the exterior of the car.

Note that the hybrid version of the second generation began production in 2005. Along with the 3.3-liter gasoline engine, it was equipped with an electric power unit in combination with a planetary gearbox.

In 2008, the production of the third generation began. Its characteristic features were a sporty exterior with dynamic lines. Under the hood, the same V6 with 3.5 liters and 275 horsepower worked. And in 2010, a restyling was carried out, which brought not only visual changes but also technical updates. Notably, in Russia in 2012, this became the best-selling model among crossovers. Along with this, negative statistics also appeared, as the most stolen car.

Present Day

The fourth generation with a completely updated base started in 2016. The car's dynamic characteristics were improved, and its comfort was again raised to the maximum among its analogs. Under the hood, the same "six" with 300 horsepower was hidden, allowing it to demonstrate excellent acceleration properties.

Not so long ago, the Japanese manufacturer introduced the fifth generation, which was launched in series in 2022. This generation is not yet so widespread in our country, but its "younger" generations make up a significant part of the Russian car fleet.
