The full-size Lexus TX crossover has been in production since autumn 2023. In the production lineup, the car replaced the extended version of the RX model, becoming the only SUV of the Japanese brand with a 3-row cabin layout.

Technical Features

The car is built on the modular GA-K platform, which it shares with the Toyota Highlander crossover, along with a strong body frame and a number of other mechanical components. This solution provides a low center of mass and an almost equal distribution of weight load on the axles. An important addition and distinction from the Highlander is the use of additional welded seams and glue, which made it possible to increase the body's rigidity on bending and torsion. With an identical chassis layout, the TX has a wider track, both front and rear. The engine range has two out of three power units taken from the Highlander. First and foremost, this is the "basic" petrol engine - a turbocharged inline "four" with a volume of 2.4 liters, developing 279 horsepower and 430 Nm, which is combined exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The drive can be not only full with a clutch on the rear axle, but also front-wheel. This same engine is used in the initial hybrid installation, along with an electric motor, which provides four-wheel drive. At peak loads, its power is 371 horsepower, and torque is 555 Nm. The torque is transmitted through a 6-speed "automatic". The most equipped versions also represent a "hybrid", but with an "atmospheric" petrol V6 with a volume of 3.5 liters and an electromechanical variator with a peak power of 412 horsepower. The system includes a battery pack with a capacity of 18.1 kW with the possibility of charging from a socket, which allows the car to move on electric traction for up to 54 kilometers.

Equipment

The set of equipment in this crossover is selected in accordance with the concept of its use. It is designed to transport up to 6-7 passengers mainly on paved roads. Depending on the configuration, the second row can be either a classic 3-seat sofa or two separate "captain's" chairs, each with ventilation and heating functions. Thanks to a wheelbase of 2950 mm, the third row of seats is designed to transport two adult passengers. Even in this case, the trunk volume up to the ceiling is 569 liters. The folded third row increases this figure to 1625 liters. All doors open by pressing a special button. The front console features a virtual instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches, as well as a 14-inch tablet of the multimedia system with touch control. Despite modern trends, the climate control panel has retained physical control handles. The crossover is available in four configuration options, of which only one, F Sport Performance, stands out not only with 22-inch wheels but also with a more aggressive sports body kit.
