The compact 2-door Lexus RC coupe has been in production since autumn 2014. The car is a sports version of the third-generation IS sedan, which debuted a year earlier.

Technical specifications

The car is built on the Toyota-developed N platform, which it shares with the IS and GS sedans. A modified version of this platform is used, with a slightly shortened wheelbase. Initially, the engine range started with an in-line 2.5-liter gasoline "four", which is one of the components of the hybrid powertrain. However, the majority of sales fell on the version with a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine, developing 317 hp, which was offered in conjunction with an 8-speed "automatic" from Aisin, borrowed from the representative GS sedan. The most powerful modification offers a 5-liter V8 with 481 hp. It is the presence of this engine in the lineup that explains the use of the front part not from the IS model, but from the larger GS. This made it possible to increase the space under the hood, providing the required level of engine cooling. In 2018, the car underwent an update, which affected, first of all, the front part, where single headlights appeared, along with other bumpers and a rear diffuser.

The next cycle of modernization was carried out in 2022. The car still used the N platform, despite the fact that the related IS changed it two years earlier. Most of the innovations affected the salon. The 10.3-inch multimedia system display, located above the front panel, is now closer to the driver. The sportiest F version has got other steering wheel "paddles" for controlling the transmission. All versions have a complex of electronic assistants of the current iteration. In technical terms, the changes were also minor. The settings of the power steering and electronic systems were revised again, as well as the design of the wheel hubs, springs and stabilizers.
