In 2001, the rights to the brand were transferred to Ford Motor, which made significant changes to the design features of Land Rover off-road vehicles. In particular, there was a refusal to use a traditional frame, the elements of which were integrated into the bearing body. The first model with such solutions was the Discovery, a new generation of which was presented in 2004. On the eve of the financial crisis in 2007, Ford announced plans to sell Land Rover and Jaguar. By 2008, the list of potential buyers had narrowed down to one automaker - the Indian Tata. The new owner carried out a large-scale reorganization, merging Land Rover and Jaguar into one division, which exists to this day.
